Where Chairlink started

Our story

Chairlink started in a dental office in Raleigh, North Carolina. When Dr. Calvin Chen bought his practice, it was struggling, and it served a large community that had long been underserved.

Turning it around meant rebuilding the team. The dentistry was the part he had trained for. The harder part was helping every person on the team feel ready for the phone call, the surprise balance, and the nervous question in the chair, the moments when patients decide whether to trust an office.

Most teams learn those moments by shadowing, or by being corrected after something goes wrong. Most dental professionals also have nowhere to turn for experienced guidance beyond their own office.

Chairlink began as a mentorship platform that connected dental professionals with experienced mentors and paid those mentors fairly. It grew into continuing education, a professional portfolio, and now Chairlink Coach, live AI practice for the conversations that shape patient trust. Every piece serves the same idea: when people grow, patients feel it.

Why we exist

Mission

We help dental professionals grow, in skill and in connection, with each other and with the patients they serve.

Trust in a dental office is built in small human moments: a phone call, a balance at checkout, a hard question in the chair. Most of them happen before the dentist walks in, and most teams never get a chance to prepare for them.

Chairlink gives every role a place to practice, learn, and find guidance before the moment arrives. A few minutes a week is enough to build the habit. When people grow with confidence, patients feel the difference.

One practice. One patient experience.

The future we are building toward

Vision

A profession where communication is trained as seriously as clinical skill, and the people who do it well are recognized for it.

We see every new team member practicing hard conversations before meeting them in the chair. We see practices and groups delivering the same caring experience across every role and every location. And we see practice open to every dental professional, not only those in offices with a training budget.

Growth should belong to the person who earned it. Every conversation practiced, guide completed, and mentor session adds to a professional portfolio that follows someone through their career. Over time, Chairlink becomes the place where dentistry's most skilled and empathetic communicators are developed, known, and connected to the practices that need them.

How we work, how we decide, how we show up

Core values

  1. Every role builds trust.

Patients experience one practice, not separate departments. Front desk, assistants, hygienists, treatment coordinators, office managers, and dentists all shape how a patient feels. We build for the whole team.

  2. Practice before it's real.

Hard conversations should not be learned on patients. A few minutes of practice each week, with room to try, miss, and try again, is how confidence is built. The first attempt is the baseline, not the result.

  3. Understanding over scripts.

We do not hand people lines to memorize. We look at how well someone listened, found the real concern, and explained clearly. Then we help them say it in their own words.

  4. Kindness is a skill.

Calm, patience, and warmth can be practiced like any clinical technique. We treat them as abilities worth training and worth celebrating, not traits you either have or lack.

  5. Grounded in real dentistry.

Chairlink is led by a practicing dentist and shaped by working dental teams. Every situation comes from what happens in dental offices every day, and every guide draws on credible sources. If it would not ring true to a dental team, it does not ship.

  6. Growth belongs to the person who earned it.

Skills and progress should follow a professional from office to office. We record growth in a portfolio people own, and we pay the people who mentor others fairly.

What dental teams say

Meagan J.Hygienist

“As a new grad hygienist, I did not want my first hard conversations to be with patients who expect me to already have every answer. Practicing here let me find my own style. Now I walk into the room feeling ready, not rehearsing in my head.”

Adriana M.Front Desk

“The patient who is upset about a bill used to be the part of my day I dreaded. Chairlink helped me connect with that patient and turn a hard moment into a visit they leave feeling good about.”
